Coverage

This fee applies in the Parc National Des Volcans to view mountain gorillas. Since these animals are an endangered species and are considered to be a "charismatic megafauna"(a species which gets special attention because of its beauty, size, or other apecial characteristic), Rwandans have been able to charge high fees to view the animal.

Tax Rates

There is a $200 per day fee to visit the mountain gorillas in their unique Afro-montane forest home.

Allocation of Revenues

The revenue is used to contribute to the preservation of this region and its wildlife. Funds are used for patrol and staff salaries, facilities maintenance and other park needs.
